Stabiae
L’antica città di Stabiae situata nell’area dell’odierna Castellammare di Stabia è una necropoli del VII secolo a.C. che svolgeva un importante ruolo strategico e commerciale, infatti, sono stati rinvenuti moltissimi oggetti fabbricati in Etruria e in Grecia, che dimostrano il valore commerciale della città. Secondo molti archeologi, Stabiae era un oppidum, ovvero un piccolo borgo fortificato collegato ad un importante porto o strada che spesso diveniva luogo di villeggiatura per i romani. Durante gli scavi sono state ritrovate numerose lussuose ville residenziali abbellite con pitture e dotate di strutture termali, portici e ninfei decorati. Ad oggi è possibile visitare la Villa San Marco, Villa Arianna e la villa detta “Secondo complesso”.
